Ruth Gray

(She/Her), LMSW

Hi! I'm Ruth, a mental health professional working in the field for over 30 years.  I have had the opportunity to work with people of all ages and have enjoyed helping each and every one.  I look forward to hearing your unique story and taking the next step with you.

Combining education, and career experience, my counseling approach is eclectic, based on your needs.  Whether counseling a young child, teen, adult, family, or couples, we can discover together what works best in helping positive growth and resolution.  You, your voice, your comfort, and your privacy is very important to me.

I received my Licensed Master of Social Work degree from Western Michigan University. Early in my career I worked with teens who could not live in their own homes.  Together we worked at finding their voice in a healthy, productive manner.  I proceeded to work with adults in outpatient hospitalization.  I have worked with adults experiencing mental illness and assisted these individuals in remaining independent and in optimal mental health.  An outpatient setting was my next step, and I enjoyed counseling children, teens, adults, couples and families.  I moved to the school setting and worked with students K - 12 as a school social worker, teaching students ways to succeed and assisting parents in advocacy.

Ways to approach outpatient counseling is as limitless as our combined imaginations!  Play, art, crafting, movement are options for all ages.

I love the beach, Lake Michigan close to home, and the Atlantic Ocean a bit further.  My husband and I share a love for shelling.  Creating art with the shells is relaxing, as well as creating jewelry and beaded art.  I am always reading at least one book, and often it is a mystery.  My home is not complete without a four-legged friend.

Enough about me...now it's your turn!
